Anecdotes

Comments

A composition when presented as per the Mewati style starts with the ‘mukhda’ (opening verse) and ‘sthayi’ (stanza of the composition), after which the mukhda is taken up again for presentation in several ways. This is done mainly through ‘bol alaap’ (using the words of the composition rather than with ‘aakar’ i.e phonetic expansion of the letter ‘a’). The subsequent stages see the use of ‘layakari’ and taans, especially those of ‘gamak taans’ and ‘sapaat taans’.
